The Big You Know What
Today I was watching The Big Lebowski (lost count of how many times by now, its in the upper teens, for sure) while babysitting the same friends' little cutie-pants daughter (yes, I did worry the f-bombs might work their way in her ears and back out her mouth, but she "paid no mind," in the parlance of our times). This bit of dialogue occurs after the other Lebowski's goons shove the Dude into his limo the day after the botched ringer situation has occurred. Damn it, Walter.
Planet of the...
I have been watching the BBC series "Planet Earth" lately, and last night I went to watch a new episode. I'm trying to watch them in order, and the next one up was "Jungle." Well, clearly that one would have monkeys in it, so I decided that that might sound too contrived and I would not blog it if it did. However, when I put the DVD in I remembered that I had gone to sleep before finishing the segment before "Jungle" which was "Great Plains." Well, I thought, what would be the chance of there being any monkeys in the Great Plains, right? And I'd already "seen" one monkey for the day. WELL, apparently there are these baboon-type primates that live in a plains landscape in Africa somewhere, and when it floods with spring rains, they all come out and hang out in the grassy water. Unfortunately I am having trouble with the screen capture. But, who knew there were grassy monkeys?!.

five and dime
Today I paid a visit to my very dear friend (who is like a sister), and helped give her almost-two-year-old girl (who is amazing) a bath. After getting all clean and dry and dressed, she picked up two books for me to read to her: one was a strange pop-up version of "There Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly," and THIS one! And she doesn't even know about my blog! Well, the way I remember it, the song version had ten little monkeys, who broke their heads. This one, however, starts with fewer monkeys, and has them putting on pajamas and brushing their teeth and such before bumping their heads. But mama still calls the doctor, and the doctor still says, "no more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

Give 'em Somethin to Talk About
So, a while back a frenemy turned me on to PerezHilton.com. It is a completely delicious guilty pleasure that keeps me pretty well informed on all the celebrity pop culture crap that no one really needs to know. This entry, besides being valid to my lil' blog, made me happy because Drew Barrymore is one of the few "celebs" that I actually think might be pretty cool. And "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" made me bust a gut right when I needed it, so, hooray for them!
